  Jacksonville, North Carolina is home to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, the home of expeditionary forces in readiness, and to Marine Corps Air Station New River.

  The base and air station are the duty stations for over 47,000 active duty Marines and Sailors. The military is by far the area’s largest industry.

  Onslow County includes Jacksonville, the bases, and the towns of Swansboro, Richlands, Holly Ridge, and North Topsail Beach. Unincorporated communities include Hubert and Sneads Ferry.

  Jacksonville’s current population is estimated at 76,000. The entire county, including bases, cities and towns, has a combined civilian and military population of over 171,000.
